After I sent this poem to the girl who I wrote it for, her reply was, “how can you be in love with me if you’ve never met me [in person] before?” I hadn’t the slightest clue of how to answer that question, but gosh was I in love with her! Or maybe I was in love with the idea of her? The perception that I had of her. The image of her that my imagination had created.
Do you really love someone? Or do you love the image of them that you carry in your mind?
It’s been over two years of her and I sporadically interacting. I still have not met her, and yet still…
