If you live in New York City, then you know how atrocious the MTA (NYC train system) can be. The train traffic also always seems to be worst when you are late or in a rush to getting to your destination. Most people complain, others just leave home extra early (although that rarely works), and at the most extreme, some people decide to invest in a car (but they still have to deal with traffic and finding parking).

Well, instead of turning to all of these alternatives, Charlie had a better idea. Charlie decided to get a bike! So, you might catch him pedaling through your neighborhood. Everyone is jealous of Charlie, and this video is Charlie’s story. Happy watching and listening!

Hey everyone!!!

Two days ago, I uploaded this post. But, today, I am finding out that the link that I had put in the post is not working!! I did not notice this until today because between work, family, personal needs and other things, I NEVER got a chance to pass by my blog since my last upload. So, it was to a great surprise, when I finally got back on today, to realize that a GREAT video about The Bowery, by NY1, (in which a poem of mine is featured) that I had posted is NOT working. Very quick shout out to mtaggartwriter for pointing this out to me because, if not, I would have NEVER noticed!!!

But finally, here is the old post along with a WORKING link, below! Thank you guys ssssoooo much for your infinite support!!

Bowery Poetry Club is one of the best things that have ever happened to me, especially as an artist. This video on The Bowery’s history is nothing short of amazing and captivating. Watch it. Additionally, I am beyond grateful that one of my poems/performances was so perfectly incorporated into it. If you would like to watch the video, click here. I won’t post the link below because I realized that when I do that, it doesn’t work. But when I embed the link into a word, as I did below and in the “click here” sentence prior, it works! Therefore, click on these words, guys!!!

Thank you all so much for your support!!!

Love that was never written in books but in-between chapters,

Love that our parents beat us,

Pull our ears and twist our skin for

So that pain embedded in our soul will always remind us

To never love another

Let’s make love that was never found in nature,

Love that angels and monsters will forever fight us for,

Love that God did not make.

At least, not for humans

Let’s make love in the darkest places of the planet:

Places darker than our worst crimes

That could never be punished by death nor prison.

Let’s give each other our sorrows through smiles, tears and short spontaneous bursts of laughs

Like we are crazy.

But that’s okay, I promise

Because all who rule the world are crazy.

Hey guys!

This is only a snippet of my poem, “Outsiders“. If you would like to hear the full piece, I have a video of me performing it on my YouTube page. The video is also linked below! Please don’t forget to comment what you think. Also, subscribe to my YouTube channel for more of my videos and share with someone!!! Thank you! ❤

These City Boys

Sometime, down the road in your life,
You’re going to meet another guy
A City Boy.
Then you’ll remember:

These City Boys!
They always tend to their phones
Face planted inside the screen
Like caring for a baby that screams
Asking for an endless attention

These City Boys!
They are never doing
“One thing”
Their full attention is never present.
It’s texting while “paying attention”
Working while watching a movie
Listening to music while…Just living!
So the radio in their head
Never. Turns. Off.

These City Boys!
Never have they never ever
Not take a breath at the stars.
They’re used to big lights on poles
On all streets.
As soon as the timing hand strikes six
There is no such thing as late night walk
Through sticks.
Have they ever tuned to the melodies
Of crickets before?

These City Boys!
So busy staying connected
That they all are wireless:
It’s Snapchat this
Facebook that,
Instagram now
Make time to tweet later
As heartfelt connections disappear further

These City Boys!
Would they please listen!
Lacking the most basic skills to navigate
A fluid conversation
Flowing observation
To what the partner might have truly mentioned

These City Boys!
Their sight of trees resides in public parks
That are rarely clean.
It’s only buildings here
Towers there
Skyscrapers everywhere!
So chins are raised to the heavens in awe
As the environment becomes non-existent

These City Boys.
They’re so Conserved…
But the ones who are free, damn are they infectious?!
A personality so contagious:
Like Gold dripping out of the mouth
Of a triumphant Elephant wearing the Divine crown.
Their freedom is treasure
Not of this world.
They are struck by that peaceful joy
And, it’s as if you were witnessing
The skyline of a million stars in your eyes

Except, it’s not stars.
It’s the City Lights.

girl on trainToday, I saw the girl of my life…
The music slowly faded and felt like wings,
The artist didn’t sing;
The drums didn’t bang
I couldn’t even search for an explanation on Bing.

But the song turned into a symphony,
So possessive, so lovely.
My soul held on and flew with each note,
Giving the tune 100% of its vote.
To fly it out of the train station,
By her side, to a vacation

Her hair;
Her curly hair
Swirls like the tip of ice cream,
After escaping the machine.
Like a child seeing ice cream, controlled focus was gone.

“Moma, I want some ice cream.”

She was wearing a “skater” hat, backwards
But everything about her was forwards

The straps in her book bag
Captured my attention, and my motion lagged.

Today, I saw the girl of my life…

The song that did not know of an end, forgot its rhythmic pattern

The music notes couldn’t bat their wings

My soul was lost in some Caribbean island resort

The kids held their ice cream, carelessly, in the humidity

The ice cream forgot it has to melt.

Today, I saw the girl of my life…
That afternoon, my breath parted
While my immobile body admired her from afar
As she walked, out of my life.

On the corner of Troy and Eastern Parkway,

There’s a hive of Haitians.

Swarming an old wooden table

Skeleted with Domino Pieces

Summoning loud conversations about…

Who knows?
It attracts me Home
It attracts me Home.

Where these old tables are glistened to look new

With skinny metal legs twisting

“I need to pee”

Yet, it still withstood the exhilarating slams

Of Domino Pieces.

Reverberating magnificent melody behind mountains;

An echo that seizes attention,

Ask for respect–your temptation.
It reminds me of Home

Legend has it:

When a New Yorker’s phone dies

And they seek to find

“My way back home”,
They kiss their ears with the sun-kissed pavement;

Concrete sidewalk,

And let their soul connect to the undergrounds:

The rushing, swivel

Tunnel.

Fetch for distinct sounds of

Rumbling; Tumbling

Awakening,

Belonging; Life.
Follow all that noise–

A screetch known to be cultural

To the nearest train station.
In NYC, every train points Home.

I’m me, who are you?
Do you skate, do you dance?
Do you look at a person’s mind like taking a glance?
Do you find yourself on the half court and still take a chance?
Do restrictions hold you back? Do you climb the fence?
First day, we hope for an easy pass. We’ve been hoping ever since
We get caught and bs-on-the-spot. Ain’t got time to plan in advance

You don’t walk into class and hustle
You don’t say something in Latin as if you were fighting evil
Do you argue in seminar like you’re in a battle?
Or declaim and take everyone to another level?
Do you wear a tie knowing you came from the ghetto?
Do you get hungry in class and eat cereal?
You don’t know.

We wake up expecting struggle
But walk down graham and smile when others say hello
We think it’s bad…badder than the devil
But this is TBLS so, are you going to lose or win this war like a pro?
